TIPS FOR YOUR SESSION

If I had one piece of advice for all sessions, it would be to relax. Below I've compiled a few tips to help you prepare for your session. Your photo session should and will be FUN! Honest.

Newborns

Newborn sessions are for babies up to 10 days old and require time and patience.  My sessions typically run between 2-3 hours. This gives me plenty of time to set up, work with your little one, take breaks for feeding, and get plenty of amazing pictures.

Newborns do best when fed approximately 30 minutes prior to our session. Newborns like a very warm environment and we will have your baby mostly unclothed, so please make sure your home is around 80 degrees. Additionally, I will have a small space heater to help warm the area we are working in. Please have any props, clothing, accessories, you would like me to consider for use in the session ready upon my arrival.

In addition to my camera gear, I have several props, blankets, baskets, etc. that will bring to your session. I will also come prepped with white noise and a small space heater to try to help sooth your little one.

I may require your assistance for posing throughout the session. Don't worry about your baby peeing or pooping while I'm shooting; It's bound to happen! We will take breaks for you to feed your baby, if needed.

Most of all, sit back and enjoy your beautiful little miracle!

Infants, Toddlers, and Children

I'm a mom...I know how things go. Don't worry.

Feel free to bring snacks and favorite toys to help sooth little ones. If a break or diaper change is needed, we will take the time.

As a general rule, I ask parents to act as a bystander as I work. If I reach a point where I need mom and dad's help, I will let you know.

Please don't ask your little one to smile or say "cheese." Unless, of course, you want that cheesy little smile.

We will walk. We will play. We will try to infuse a few posed shots here and there. We have plenty of time. Don't feel frustrated if you think your child isn't "behaving." Trust the process. We will get some amazing shots.

Families
My advice for families is almost the same as for toddlers and children.  *smile*

I pride myself in making everyone feel comfortable.  I will coach you from where and how to stand, to the look I'm going for in the shot.  No need to worry.

Relax.  Play.  Show affection to your family.

General Advice for all Sessions

Stress should take place before the session.  Choosing a photographer, location, wardrobe, etc. is the hard part.  Once you arrive, the fun starts!

Make sure everyone is well rested and fed.
Not everyone has to be looking at the camera and smiling for every shot.  I'll be shooting continuously so don't be frustrated if you or your kids "weren't looking."

Is there something you love that you want to capture in your photos?  Bring it along!  This could be anything from matching jerseys, a favorite book or toy, or the family pet. Let's create something you will cherish in the years to come!
